Tips to maximize your impact

  1. Pop your sigil with a spell

    After Sigil of Malice (Q), hit the target with another ability: the sigil only detonates on a spell, not on an auto.

  2. Distortion in, then come back

    Take your trades with Distortion (W): within 4 seconds, recast it to return to where you started.

  3. Keep your target chained

    After Ethereal Chains (E), keep the target chained for 1.5 seconds: they're then rooted and take extra damage, giving you time to land your burst.

  4. Look for isolated targets

    In the mid game, look for isolated targets rather than head-on teamfights: your burst focuses one target, and Distortion (W) then takes you back out.

How to counter and exploit weaknesses

  1. Trade before he hits 6

    Take as many trades as you can before he hits level 6: without Riftwalk (R), he has no way to move quickly, to engage or to escape.

  2. Lean on physical damage

    If you deal physical damage, lean on it in trades: Void Stone (passive) and Null Sphere (Q) only reduce magic damage.

  3. Drag it out when he chains R

    When he recasts Riftwalk (R) back to back, back off and drag the teamfight out: each quick recast doubles its mana cost, and once he's out of mana he can't blink anymore.

  4. End the game early

    Look to end the game early: at max rank, Riftwalk (R) only has a 2-second cooldown, and he blinks almost nonstop.
