Playing as Thresh

Tips to maximize your impact

  1. Flay first, hook second

    Open with Flay (E) before Death Sentence (Q): the slow makes the hook much easier to land.

  2. Land charged autos

    In lane, space out your autos: Flay (E) charges them passively, and the longer you wait between two autos, the more damage they deal.

  3. Don't jump on every hook

    Don't recast Death Sentence (Q) on reflex: the target is already being pulled toward you, and jumping on them often exposes you for nothing.

  4. Throw your lantern early

    Throw Dark Passage (W) toward an ally in trouble before they need it: they can click it to come back to you, with a shield.

  5. Place your box after the hook

    Place The Box (R) right after a successful hook: to escape, the target has to break a wall, and the first wall broken slows them and deals full damage.

How to counter and exploit weaknesses

  1. Stay behind your minions

    Stay behind your minions: Dark Binding (Q) roots the first enemy hit, so a single minion is enough to block it.

  2. Don't CC into her shield

    If you have CC, don't throw it into Black Shield (E): it blocks disabling and immobilizing CC while it holds, and only magic damage can break it sooner.

  3. Break her chains

    When Soul Shackles (R) binds you, move away from her to break the chain: otherwise, at the end, you take damage again and get stunned.

  4. Engage when her E is down

    Engage when Black Shield (E) is on cooldown: it comes back in 26 to 16 seconds, and without it, her allies have no protection against CC.
